Professor Dr. A. M. Celal Şengör began his academic career at State University of New York at Albany and completed his doctorate at the same university. Having many honorable national and international academic awards, Şengör has made a reputation in geology, especially in his work in structural geology and tectonics. Şengör, a member of the Academies of Sciences of the United States, Russia, Europe and Germany, has published nearly 1,900 articles and nearly 13,000 citations. Professor Dr. A. M. Celal Şengör has been continuing his academic studies at the Geology Department of ITU Mining Faculty since 1981.
